Josephine Sham

Josephine is a Registered Music Therapist (RMT) with the Australian Music Therapy Association (AMTA).  She’s the founder of Melbourne Bilingual Music Therapy Services. 

Josephine graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Master of Music Therapy in 2016. She also had a master degree in Criminology from University of Hong Kong. Josephine had two other bachelor degrees in Social Sciences majoring in sociology/criminal justice and Psychology. 

Josephine had worked as a tutor in Criminology subjects in different universities in Hong Kong for over 15 years before becoming a music therapist. She had worked as a volunteer in Hong Kong prisons and support the inmates with music for over 15 years too. Josephine also teaches the piano and children’s music groups. 

Josephine sings and plays the piano, guitar and ukulele. And she is a harp beginner. 

Josephine is passionate to support individuals of different ages with different needs and disabilities, especially supporting the bilingual families with her cultural background. She has worked in the special school and aged care settings. She also has experiences of supporting child disabilities, early childhood intervention and adult disabilities with music.   

Josephine speaks fluent English, Cantonese and Mandarin.

In her own time, Josephine loves cooking and swimming, spending time with her family, including her toddler daughter.

Theresa Au-Young

Theresa is a Registered Music Therapist (RMT) with the Australian Music Therapy Association (AMTA).  

Theresa graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Master of Music Therapy and from The Chinese University of Hong Kong with a Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology).

Theresa has experience supporting children with special education needs and individuals with mental health needs of all ages. Before music therapy training, Theresa worked as a percussion performer and instructor.

Theresa sings and plays the percussion, piano, guitar and ukulele. 

Theresa is interested in working with preschool and school aged children in supporting developmental needs, and with adolescents, adults and older adults in promoting psychological well-being. 

Theresa speaks fluent English, Cantonese and Mandarin.

In her own time, Theresa likes to play basketball and watch Netflix.

Sammy Chan

Sammy is a Registered Music Therapist (RMT) with the Australian Music Therapy Association (AMTA).

Sammy graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Master of Music Therapy and from The Newcastle University with a Bachelor of Accounting & Finance.

Sammy has worked with young adults with special education needs in Hong Kong. Before music therapy training, Sammy worked as a senior customer service ambassador and a training worker at bank sector.

Sammy plays guitar, drum, ukulele piano and violin. Sammy also sings!

Sammy is interested in working with preschool and school aged children in supporting developmental needs, and with adolescents, adults and older adults in promoting psychological well-being.

Sammy speaks fluent English, Cantonese and Mandarin.

In his own time, Sammy likes to sing, play volleyball and other sports, as well as watching movies and dramas.

Joyce Shang

Joyce is a Registered Music Therapist (RMT) with the Australian Music Therapy Association (AMTA).

Joyce graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Master of Music Therapy and from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music with a Bachelor of Music Technology.

Joyce has worked at Monash Children's Hospital, Caulfield Hospital’s Aged Acute Mental Health Unit, Surry Hills Preschool Centre and JAM Music Therapy, a community music therapy program for adults with profound intellectual disabilities for her clinical placement. Before music therapy training, Joyce worked as an early childhood music educator and private teacher in piano and violin for children.

Joyce plays the piano, guitar, violin, sings and has a background in music production.

Joyce is passionate about mental health work with a focus in neurodiversity and fostering one's creative self-expression. She is interested in working with preschool and school aged children in supporting their emotional and developmental needs and with adolescents, adults and older adults in promoting their psychological well-being and quality of life.

Joyce speaks fluent English and Mandarin.

In her own time, Joyce enjoys having creative outlets through art, music and fashion. She also enjoys snowboarding, watching movies and catching up on Netflix shows.
